Makeup has never been just about beauty for me.
It's about creating a space where women feel seen, cared for, and confident. Every appointment is an opportunity to remind someone of the beauty and worth that have always been there.
The greatest inspiration behind my work has always been my mom.
She spent much of her life taking care of everyone else, often putting their needs before her own. No matter what she was carrying, she always looked beautiful. Her hair was done, her makeup was on, and she greeted the world with a warm smile.
But behind that smile was a woman who often felt lonely and carried more pain than most people ever knew.
Watching her taught me something I'll never forget:
Looking beautiful and feeling beautiful are not always the same thing.
Later in life, she was diagnosed with cancer and lost her hair. Even then, she continued wearing her makeup — not because she was pretending everything was okay, but because it helped her hold on to a part of herself.
After she passed away, I found myself reflecting on the woman she was, the strength she carried, and the love she had for beauty. Looking back, I realized she had quietly planted a seed in my heart long before I recognized it.
What began as a way to honor her memory eventually became the purpose behind Suzette Makeup Artistry.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I grew up surrounded by a culture that values family, hospitality, and meaningful connections. Those values continue to shape every experience I create for my clients today.
When I moved to North Carolina, I wasn't just starting over — I was building a new chapter for my family and discovering the purpose God had been preparing in my heart.
Returning to the world of beauty became part of my own healing. It reminded me that makeup could be so much more than enhancing someone's appearance — it could restore confidence, celebrate life's most meaningful moments, and remind women of their worth.
Over time, I realized I didn't want makeup to be something women used to hide behind. I wanted it to become a way for women to reconnect with themselves, feel cared for, and remember their worth.
Although weddings and Pro-Age beauty may seem like different worlds, they share the same purpose.
Whether I'm helping a bride feel radiant on one of the most meaningful days of her life or guiding a woman to embrace her changing beauty with confidence, my mission never changes.
Every woman deserves to feel beautiful, valued, and celebrated.
When you sit in my chair, my goal is about more than beautiful makeup.
